Iguazu Falls - Bordering Argentina and Brazil

May 9th - 10th

On the way from the airport to my hostel I spotted a pair of colorful Toucans on the road! Hostel Inn is an old casino with a swimming pool and room for hundreds of people. It was like a mini-resort with a full bar, cafeteria, and full-time travel booking and information booth. I sat down to check my emails by the poolside and was quickly motioned to go and join in on the ensuing soccer game. With a wide mix of nationalities including English, Brazilian, Mexican, and American my team dominated as the half-cut Brits who hadn't slept in 2 days cursed their performance.
I went inside to do some damage to the buffet before calling it an early night; my tight plans involved catching a 7:30 bus to the Parque Nacional Iguacu (Argentina).

In the morning, I arrived early enough to wait for the bus loads of workers to fill their posts. I was the first on the train, the first onto the 2 KM trail and the first to snap photos of the POWERFUL, MIND-BLOWING, GUSHING, MISTY, ENGULFING, PICTURESQUE waterfalls.

There are hundreds of waterfalls (~275) around but the main spectacle is called the "Devil's Throat". This waterfall is just something you have to see yourself. You walk away from being mere meters from the throat disbelieving what you just saw. Where does all that water come from?

I managed to take a 3o minute ($20USD) cab over to the Brazil side of the falls to get the panoramic views from a vantage point set about 1 KM back from the throat but on the east side.

I believe the Brazil side is more beautiful with the double rainbows reated by the mist from the falls. However, if I were to choose one to experience out of the two, the Argentinian side allows you to walk right up to the waterfall and experience the power and deafening crash of the water.

I rushed out of the Brazilian park to hop on a bus for the aeropuerto. Rio De Janeiro here I come!
